Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting

1 ½ teaspoons sea salt

1 teaspoon sugar

2 teaspoons active dry yeast

1 ¾ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)

2 tablespoons olive oil

Cornmeal (for dusting the pizza peel)

Instructions

In a small bowl, mix the warm water (110°F/43°C) with sugar and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and sea salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.

Using a wooden spoon, stir the mixture until it begins to come together. Then, use your hands to knead the dough inside the bowl for about 2-3 minutes until it starts to form a cohesive ball.

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for an additional 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, sprinkle a little extra flour as needed.

Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 2-4 equal portions, depending on your desired pizza size. Shape each portion into a ball and let them rest, covered, for another 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 475°F/245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

On a floured surface, take one dough ball and flatten it slightly with your hands. Use a rolling pin or your fingers to stretch out the dough into a round shape, about 10-12 inches in diameter.

Sprinkle cornmeal on a pizza peel or the back of a baking sheet, then transfer the stretched dough onto it. Add your desired toppings.

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet and bake for 8-12 minutes until the crust is golden and crispy.

Remove from the oven, let cool for a minute, slice, and serve hot!

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours 30 minutes | Servings: 2-4 (depending on size)
