When it comes to making cheeseburger pockets, the quality of your ground beef is paramount. Opting for high-quality ground beef not only enhances the flavor but also contributes to the overall texture of the filling. Look for ground beef with a good fat content, ideally around 80% lean to 20% fat. This balance ensures that your filling remains juicy and flavorful without becoming overly greasy.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup diced tomatoes

1 cup refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Sesame seeds (for topping, optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, onions, and garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Stir in Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well and remove from heat.

Add the shredded cheddar cheese and diced tomatoes to the beef mixture, stirring until the cheese is melted.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into circles, approximately 6 inches in diameter.

Place a spoonful of the cheeseburger filling in the center of each dough circle.

Fold the dough over the filling to create a pocket, sealing the edges by pressing with a fork.

Brush the tops of the pockets with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if using.

Place the pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
