Ingredients

1 pound ground beef or turkey

1 packet taco seasoning

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

1 package refrigerated pizza dough

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 small bell pepper, diced

1 can (4 oz) diced green chilies (optional)

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Salsa and sour cream for dipping

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, sauté until soft and translucent, about 4-5 minutes.

Add the ground beef (or turkey) to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.

Stir in the taco seasoning, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, diced green chilies (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle and cut it into strips about 2 inches wide.

Place a spoonful of the taco mixture in the center of each dough strip, then top with a scattering of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.

Fold the sides of the dough over the filling to create a stick shape, sealing the edges by pressing them with a fork or your fingers.

Place the taco sticks on the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the top of each taco stick for a golden finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.

Once done, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving with salsa and sour cream.
