Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Mix well until it's smooth and creamy.

Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar to the banana mixture, and stir until fully combined.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well incorporated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined—do not overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and optional walnuts until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing it evenly with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, slice into squares or bars and serve. Enjoy!
