Ingredients

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 cup shredded cabbage

½ cup shredded carrots

½ cup chopped cilantro

½ cup diced green onions

½ cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon honey

1 package of square wonton wrappers

Oil for frying

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Toss the chicken thighs in the spice mixture until well coated.

Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken thighs and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove from heat and let cool slightly before shredding the chicken.

Make the Crunchy Tacos: While the chicken is cooling, heat oil in a deep frying pan to about 350°F (175°C). Take the wonton wrappers and gently fold them into a taco shape using a taco mold or by pinching the sides while frying. Fry them until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Prepare the Slaw: In a separate bowl, mix together the shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, chopped cilantro, and diced green onions.

Make the Sauce: In another bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey until well combined. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Assemble the Tacos: Once the chicken has cooled, shred it into small pieces. Populate each crispy wonton taco shell with a generous amount of shredded chicken, followed by the slaw mix, and drizzled with the sauce.

Serve: Arrange the tacos on a platter and garnish with additional cilantro, diced green onions, or sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy your homemade version of Applebee’s Chicken Wonton Tacos!
