Ingredients

4 slices of thick bread (challah or brioche recommended)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk (whole or almond)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Fresh fruits (such as bananas or berries) for topping

Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Soak the Bread: Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing them to soak for about 30 seconds on each side. Make sure they are well coated but not overly soggy.

Make the Caramel: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the melted butter. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is bubbling slightly.

Cook the French Toast: Carefully place the soaked bread slices in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until caramelized and golden brown, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side.

Serve: Once both sides are beautifully caramelized, remove the French toast from the skillet and top with fresh fruits. Drizzle with maple syrup and enjoy!
