When it comes to choosing the right ground beef for your Korean Ground Beef Bowl, the preferred fat content is 80/20. This ratio strikes a perfect balance between flavor and texture, providing enough fat to keep the meat juicy without being overly greasy. The richness of the beef is essential, as it will absorb the flavors of the sauce beautifully, resulting in a savory dish that is both satisfying and delicious.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon minced ginger

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)

2 green onions, chopped

1 cup cooked jasmine rice

1 cup steamed broccoli florets

Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, rice vinegar, and chili flakes. Mix until the sugar is dissolved and all ingredients are well blended.

In a large skillet, heat the skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula—about 5-7 minutes.

Drain excess grease from the skillet if necessary, then pour the sauce mixture over the cooked beef. Stir well to coat all the beef evenly. Let it simmer for about 3-5 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and coats the meat.

While the beef simmers, prepare your serving bowls. Place about 1 cup of jasmine rice in each bowl. Then, add a generous amount of the beef mixture on top.

Add steamed broccoli florets on the side, and garnish each bowl with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Serve hot and enjoy your Korean Ground Beef Bowl!
