Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1/4 cup milk

1/2 cup marinara sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Coating: In a large bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until evenly combined.

Setup Breading Station: In separate shallow dishes, place the flour, whisked eggs mixed with milk, and the breadcrumb mixture.

Coat the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Dredge each chicken breast first in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it generously with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the crumbs onto the chicken to adhere well.

Bake the Chicken: Place the coated chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the crust is golden brown.

Add Marinara and Cheese: Remove the chicken from the oven. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve with your choice of pasta, salad, or garlic bread.
