Ingredients

4 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups whole milk

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust

Ground nutmeg or cinnamon (for sprinkling on top)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs gently with a whisk until they are just blended; do not overbeat.

Add the granulated sugar and salt to the eggs, whisking until smooth and the mixture begins to lighten in color.

Stir in the vanilla extract, melted butter, and whole milk, mixing until fully combined and the sugar is dissolved.

Pour the custard mixture into the pre-made pie crust, ensuring the filling is evenly distributed.

Sprinkle a light dusting of ground nutmeg or cinnamon over the top of the custard for added flavor.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set, but slightly jiggly in the center. The edges may be lightly golden.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour. The custard will continue to set as it cools.

Once fully cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully.

Slice, serve, and enjoy the timeless taste of this classic dessert!
