Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Bananas: In a large bowl, toss the banana slices with a pinch of salt to enhance their flavor. Set aside.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Allow it to bubble slightly.

Add Sugar and Spices: Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Let it cook for about 1 minute until the sugar starts to dissolve.

Pan Fry the Bananas: Gently place the banana slices in the skillet, making sure they are evenly spaced. Cook them for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they are golden brown, then carefully flip them over with a spatula.

Glaze Them Up: After flipping, drizzle the vanilla extract over the bananas. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the bananas to caramelize and absorb the sugar mixture.

Serve Warm: Once caramelized, immediately transfer the bananas to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
