Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)

1 clove garlic, minced

1/4 small onion, finely diced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

4 whole wheat burger buns

Olive oil for grilling

Optional toppings: sliced avocado, tomato, arugula, and aioli or mayonnaise

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.

Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. Be careful not to over-mix, as this can make the burgers tough.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into patties about 1/2 inch thick.

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat and lightly brush it with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Once hot, place the chicken patties on the grill. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the burgers are golden brown.

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of white cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Remove the burgers from the grill and let them rest for a minute.

Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill for about 1 minute, until they're slightly crispy.

Assemble your burgers by placing the cheesy chicken patty on the bottom half of the bun. Add your desired toppings, such as avocado, tomato, arugula, and a spoonful of aioli.

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
